Throughout this Web activity you will be graded on all of your assignments based on the rubric below as well as your participation in the activity.


Your grade on this activity will be based on the research you completed on your explorer, your participation throughout the week, and your final presentation/visual piece. You should be aware of the areas that I will be looking at so that you can get a good grade and not lose any points! By knowing what I expect and following tasks and directions, you will be able to stay on track!

Exploration Map The student completed the map correctly by labeling all of the necessary parts. (Circling the country that sponsored the voyage, labeling the voyage path, writing your explorers name, etc.) The student completed this activity but incorrectly labeled one item on the map such as labeling a country wrong or not completing all necessary requirements. The student submitted this assignment but was missing two items or labeled two items incorrectly that were required of this activity. The student did not complete this part of the web activity. 25%
"What Do I Know" worksheet The student completed all necessary research by showing knowledge in all necessary areas about his/her explorer. The student researched the explorer properly but is missing one area of knowledge related to the explorer. The student researched the information required but did not include/ is missing two or three pieces of information on the worksheet. The student researches his or her explorer but is missing four or more areas of information that is required on this sheet. 30%
Explorer Presentation The student took pride in his/her work and spoke clearly in front of the class. The student seemed proud with his/her work but made one or two errors. The student lacked confidence in his/her work and struggled with sharing half of the facts during the presentation. The student lacked confidence in his/her work and struggled with more than half of the presentation. 15%
Visual Aid Part of Presentation The student provided a clear visual representation that allowed students to gain insight into an aspect related to the explorer. The student provided a visual aid that was creative and thoughtful, but did not explain it to the class in a way that related to presentation. The student created a visual aid that did not provide an accurate portrayal of the explorer. The student did not provide a visual aid or the visual aid was incomplete at the time of the presentation. 30%
