South Carolina: The Palmetto State

The webquest will ask students to research and analyze the state symbols of South Carolina. Students will enhance their knowledge about South Carolina as a whole, but concentrating mainly on the state symbols and their origin. As a teacher, you will evaluate the students progress and presentation. It's your job to help the students as a class, develop a comprehensive overview of South Carolina's state symbols. Make your district proud!

This webquest was designed to help students practice their research and presentation skills, as well as to enhance their knowledge about the state they live in. It is important for children to know about thier state, this project helps students learn about their state in a unique way!

This project addresses the following South Carolina standards:

Standard 3-1: The student will demonstrate an understanding of places and regions and the role of human systems in South Carolina.

Standard 3-5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the major developments in South Carolina in the late nineteenth century and the twentieth century.
