To effectively teach this unit, it helps to have first-hand knowledge of the information oneself. Knowing where to find the pertinent information is a priceless tool, as well.  The students will be more engaged in the projects suggested here if it is tied into space exploration in science, due to the Space Shuttle Challenger event, as well as the Mount St. Helens information being enmeshed in science study of volcanoes.  Hav efun with this WebQuest, and make it your own. The projects can be improved upon with the addition of vocabulary words, research in-depth of them, and by expanding the assignments this could turn into a two-week WebQuest. Enjoy!

To meet the needs of all students, adaptive speakers; Smart-Board technology along with clickers can be made available; peer-tutoring and amall group work will also help boost participation for struggling readers. To help students with physical challenges preventing them from full participation, oral responses are acceptable where applicable.
