Day 1: You will work in small groups of four to search the Internet at www.thepeoplehistory.com/1980.html for information about life in the 1980s during the years assigned to your group. (To access the next year, simply type in the year in the web site's search box.)
*Include information on top 3 television shows and top movie.
*List key events and people from each year. (eg; president and other world leaders)
*Make notes regarding styles of dress and phrases used during this time.
*List financial information available in the web site.
Record this information in your journal to be used on day 3. More information will be added during the course of the WebQuest.

Day 2: Individually research newspaper articles on either the Fall of the Berlin Wall or the Space Shuttle Challenger and its passengers.  You will then write your own newspaper article about the passengers and their preparation for the flight. In your conclusion, please include your thoughts on how America was impacted by this event. This will be added to your Portfolio. Question and Answer discussion will follow this assignment.

Day 3: You will be paired into your original groups where you will elect a team leader. Usuing the information found in Day 1's research, your group will access www.kids-discovery-room-maker.com to design and lay out room for a museum. You will then prepare a Power Point slide using your designed room. You will also include twelve "artifacts" found in the research that your team feels should be put into your NAMED museum room. These "artifacts" can include outfits; albums (music); cars; or pieces of the Berlin Wall. Remember to work as a team, and respect each others' opinions.

Day 4:  Teams will present their museum rooms, beginning with 1980-1981 group. As we progress through the Power Point presentation, we will discuss significant events of the years, and answer questions quickly so as to ensure each team is allotted enough time to present their slide.  (Keep in mind that this is a team project, and grades will reflect participation.)

Day 5:  As a class, we will discuss and review the information presented in the Power Point. We will have some Question/Answer review time. You will then be given 25-30 minutes to write a short essay, which will be added to your Portfolio, on the one event or person that you feel had the most historical impact on the U.S. during the 1980s.  Please include at least five sentences explaining why you would or would not choose to live during this decade.
