Task

20120805060421SyQed.gif

You will assume the role of either a Nazi soldier or a Jew. These two different types of people viewed the Holocaust in different ways based on their backgrounds, families, religions, and or political viewpoints.

After you have decided which role you wish to play, use the links to research the beliefs or political viewpoints of your character, his or her background, how he or she influenced others, and/or how he or she was influenced by others. These facts will help you understand the varying ideals behind the Holocaust during World War II as well as better understand the people that were part of this time period.

Based on your research you will complete the following tasks:

1. Write a speech (written analysis) pretending you are a Nazi or Jew, particularly including the aforementioned points (your political viewpoints, your duties during the Holocaust, religious ideas, background, influences, etc.).
2. Prepare a worksheet with at least five questions that will be covered in your speech, (your classmates will answer the questions during the presentation), and a poster to supplement your presentation.
3. Memorize and present your speech to your peers (hand out your worksheet before beginning your speech).
4. Write a one page reflection journal entry relating your feelings about the role you chose, a Nazi or Jew, and how it affected your overall view of the Holocaust.
