Let's get started!
Task #1:  Characters' Actions or Making Inferences

1.  Click on the link below called "Characters' Actions" to open the Inference Sheet.
2.  All of your answers can be typed onto this sheet and printed out to hand in to your teacher.
3.  Read all of the questions on the sheet and fill in only the inferences-the parts that say: "I think..."
4.  Then, fill in "Evidence from the text" by writing down what clues the author gives us.

Task #2:  Reading a Map While Taking a Journey From Maine to Kansas

1.  Click on the link called "A Journey With Sarah"
2.  Read the parts of the map to answer questions that will help Sarah successfully find her way from Kansas to Maine.
3.  All of your answers can be typed onto this sheet, printed out, and given to your teacher for checking.
4.  You may use information found in the map key and map scale to help you.

Task #3:  Owls on the Prairie Bar Graph Activity

1.  Click on the link called "Sarah's Favorite Things" to open the sheet about different types of prey that the owl hunts on the prairie.
2.  Read the background data about owls and their habitat before dissecting an owl pellet to discover what the owl hunts.
3.  All of your data can be sorted, organized on a bar graph, printed out, and given to your teacher to check.
4.  You will need an owl pellet and a dissection kit for this activity.

Task #4:  Sarah's Prairie Habitat

1.  Click on the link called "Prairie Dogs and Feverfew"
2.  Read the passage that helps you understand the different organisms Sarah discovers in her new home on the prairie and use the information in the passage to complete the worksheet that will help you find relationships between prairie dogs, feverfew, tumbleweeds, and many other interesting plants and animals.
3.  You may type your answers directly onto the sheet before printing it out and giving to your teacher.
