Brown v. Board of Education (1954)

The most significant event of the Civil Rights movement in Education occurred in 1954. The Supreme Court case of Brown v. The Board of Education is one of the most influential Civil cases in American History.  The case developed in Topeka, Kansas after 13 families filed a Civil complaint about segregation in the school district, claiming it was an oppressive action that violated the rights outlined in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.  Racism and societal segregation were commonplace during the 1950's, especially in Southern areas of the United States, and this immoral attitude played an extreme role in the proceedings of the case.  Brown v. The Board of Education is considered one of the most monumental accomplishments in both the world of Education as well as the Civil Rights movement.
