Conclusion

checkandbalance.jpg

Now that you have presented your position and heard other positions on Cherokee removal ask yourself the following questions:

1.  Did the United States government and the state of Georgia have the right to interfere with the sovereignty of the Cherokee?

2.  Did the Cherokee have the right to protest the interference of the United States government and the state of Georgia?

3.  Which side has the most fair and reasoned position?

4.  What responsibility does the United States governent have to protect the Cherokee?

Your teacher will be sharing the outcome of the Worchester v. Georgia trial with you.  Hopefully your research and the presentations of other groups have helped you understand the conflicts involved in the relationship between the federal, tribal, and state governments.
