This is an in-depth unit over the beginnings of Jamestown, VA. It was created with Kansas 4th graders in mind. Kansas standards for 4th grade are all about Regions. The websites attached are all child-friendly. My favorite one is the Jamestown Adventure because it shows the words to the story and it reads to the kids too. Even though I've given each topic to a day, take as long as you need to cover the information. Any of the activities/tasks can be altered to meet individual needs (knock the required '3 things' down to 1 or 2, have the whole unit done in pairs, etc.).

This unit covers the following standards (found at http://ksde.org):

understanding of governmental systems of Kansas and the United States and other
