Day 1:

  • Today you are going to use the link for the interactive map and you will study the triangular trade routes that brought all sorts of valuable goods to and from England and to different parts of the world.
  • After you have observed the map, you will need to complete the activities at the bottom of that page: Find It, Explore It, and Chart It.
  • Next, explore the Colonial Life link. Pretend you are a child living in the 1600's. Write a journal entry about your day.
Day 2:
  • Today you are going to learn about the famous explorer named John Smith.
  • Do the Jamestown Adventure at the Captain John Smith link below. Listen/read the story. Do each mini-game three times, documenting each of your scores, and then highlight your best one. For example, in the first mini-game, you will 'build the fort' three times, writing down your score/time after each one. Then with your highlighter, mark your best score/time.
  •  Next, review John Smith's biography. Using the information you learned during the Jamestown Adventure and the new information from the biography, create a Venn Diagram, comparing and contrasting your personality, beliefs, and actions with those of John Smith.
(Did you catch that? In the last two days, you covered some World History AND American History!)
