This WebQuest teaches 6th-8th graders about child labor during the Industrial Revolution. The children are expected to split up in to groups to do research about child labor using one of the websites provided, which are shown below, or one they found. After their research the children are to put a 2-5 minute skit together including ALL of the questions they were asked. The group is then evaluated on their performance. A short quiz is included after the evaluation.

Websites:
  • What is the age of the child (required to be under the age of eight)?
  • Where is the child working?
  • What is the child's job?
  • How does the child do their job (ex~picking up scraps on floor under machines)?
  • How many hours a day does the child work?
  • What is the child getting paid?
  • What types of injuries could occur where the child is working?
  • What is the year/date?
  • Where is the skit taking place (country, state, city)?
This video is a very helpful way to keep the kid interested and learn a great amount of information:  Child Labor Video
