You have traveled back in time to 1831 in Great Britain. The Industrial Revolution is occurring. People are moving from their farms to live in cities and work in factories. Children are the ideal employee due to their small body parts that can work with much finer objects than adults could, and they could fit in smaller places. Children also could be easily tricked into working more hours than they were being paid for. Most children worked 12-16 hours a day, and others worked up to 19 hours a day. You are one of these children under the age of eight and work as a scavenger of piecer in a factory.
