The idea of overcoming anxieties can be linked to the theories of Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky. The idea of adaptation can be applied to this because many people have always had a dislike of math or tests, and over years that dislike grew into a fear, which becomes an anxiety when confronted with one or both. The idea of adaptation allows the person to absorb and learn merhods that would allow them to change their ways and allow them to get to a new level that enables them to lose their anxieties. The idea of assimilation can also be applied here because in order to adapt to new change, there has to be new information, and assimilation allows a person to take in the new information, process it, and do with it as they need.
Now based on what I am doing for the students that might do this project someday, with respect to chiuld development and such, I am making this project fit their zones of proximal development, in that this project doesn't require the students to think beyond what theya re capable of. They can use their own experiences when doing the research and the analysis of the findings for their papers and presentations. This project also allows that students to lose the egocentric side, in that they can see that the world affects others, and not just them. In regards to this project, some students are good in math or good at taking tests, and sometimes they struggle to see why they can't comprenhend something that they can. This can apply to kids in elementary school, middle school, and high school, and this is because at every stage of our lives, we forget that things that happen to us can also happen to others.
Finally, this project allows the students to follow directions in order to do discover something they might not have known, but it also requires them to have a certain level of organization in their work because with all of the research and findings they will have collected, they have to be able to organize and and the be able to pass the information onto the team members and the class in an orderly manner that allows an optimal level of learning.
