Culturally Supportive Education

To experience a culturally supportive program, one has to take the following steps:

• Visit a school or vocational institution that has people from different cultures and languages and determine how the program functions.
• Volunteer in a daycare or kindergarten class in a mixed neighborhood and determine how teachers could reach each student.
• Read books of other cultures that deal with education and note the difference between that culture and that of your school.
• Interview people from other cultures that live here in the United States and determine their frustration with our system and how we can fix some of our cultural integration problems.
