Revision

Before you move on to understanding reflections, it is important that you recall how to do the following four points:

- Draw the x-axis and y-axis
- Label the origin
- Plot coordinates
- Identify coordinates both in the positive and negative axes

In the resource section below, you will find a number of both video clips and links  [notes].  These are there to help you refresh your memory and understand better the four points mentioned above.  You can even try out some of the activities which are provided with these links to see how well you have understood.

New Notes

After going through the revision section, it is now time for you to move on to the new mathematics section where you will be going through the actual topic of ‘Reflections’.

The link titled 'Notes on Reflections' will lead you to a site which you can visit in order to gain more knowledge on reflections.  In this site, you can find some basic definitions of reflections and also an example where you can try reflecting some shapes about different mirror lines.  In this website, there is also some information about how you can reflect shapes yourself, about labels and also some tricks you can use!  At the end of the link, you can find two questions which you should work.  By clicking the links, another page will open where the question will be displayed for you to work.  You can find the link below in the resources section below.

The link titled 'Reflection of a Triangle'  in the Resources Section below takes you to a video on YouTube where you can watch a triangle being reflected both in the x-axis and in the y-axis.

At the end of the resources section, you can find a worksheet containing some questions on reflections which will help you to assess yourself on whether you understood the concept of reflections.
