Egypt--The Gift of the Nile

Task

The Task
YOU are a world famous archaeologist!  National Geographic has commissioned you to design a  game about Ancient Egypt to teach exciting contributions to the world made by this culture - including interesting trivia.
You may use the following tools in your discovery work:
• The Internet (limited to the links on the website)
• Artifacts you may locate
• Books and magazines
• Computer applications
• Other tools and resources you find helpful
You may work with no more than one partner in designing this game, and time is of the essence!  It appears that a competitor has commissioned another archaeologist to make a game on Ancient Greece!   You want to grab the game market with a top quality product that really teaches!

Your game can be a traditional board or card game.  You must, however, strictly adhere to the quality control requirements.

How can we capture all the learning you have accomplished in our study of Ancient Egypt? We'll use the following process!

1.  We will review the assessment rubric together BEFORE we begin the project so you know where to concentrate your learning efforts.  It is easy to get distracted by all the exciting information we will have available.

2.  During the project, you will have specific assignments to do that will assist you in learning about Ancient Egypt.  Grades and assessments determined in these assignments will be homework grades.

3.  Self assessment http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php?screen=ShowRubric&rubric_id=1458408
You
will use this scoring rubric to assess your personal contribution to this project. Did you accomplish the learning goals?  Were there areas in which you were outstanding in your efforts? Are there areas in which you could have put more effort?

4.  Group assessment http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php?screen=ShowRubric&rubric_id=1458412

You will score your group's work using this rubric.  Did your group work well in accomplishing the goals of the unit?  In what areas did your group exceed the requirements?  Were there areas in which your group could have invested more energy?

5.  Teacher assessment - your teacher will use the rubric on the evaluation page to score your group's work from the teacher's viewpoint. The teacher will then review the self and group assessments to determine an overall project grade.
