Create your own Monument

Possible materials:  construction paper, cardboard, poster board,crayons, markers, paper-towel tubing, paint, paintbrushes, boxes, plasticcontainers, etc.

1. You are going to contribute a new monument to Washington, D.C.  Decide on a person, a group of people, or anevent that you would like to honor. Using the map on the opposite side of thispaper, choose a location for your monument in the capital city.

2. Plan your monument. Using available materials, build a model of yourmonument. You may want to make a sketch before you begin the actualconstruction.

3.  Writea short description of your monument. Include the name of your monument. Tell why you feel that the person,group, or event you chose to honor deserves a monument.  Be sure to tell about your monument�slocation and why you selected that particular location.
