Become a Famous Artist!

How to begin:

You will be assigned to a group of 4.  Each of you will choose one of the four artist, whom you will be in charge of researching, painting and re-creating:  

Claude Monet

Vincent Van Gogh

Andy Warhol

Pablo Picasso

Once you have chosen your artist you will use the links and resources below to read and understand what makes your artist so important to the world of art! You must complete the worksheet attached below to aid in finding the important aspects of your artist.  Please use the checklist below to help keep you on top of things for this project.

After you have completed the worksheet (provided below) you will gather with other students who also choose your same artist and share your findings together.  Each of you will help your group members decide an interesting and memorable way to present your artist to the class.  You will also be creating a small painting using your artist's specific style.  Since there are only four artists to choose from there will be several students who share the same artist, which will make the presentations more interesting! You want to make your presentation to the class one that will stick in their minds and help them to understand the importance of your artist.

Video and Book Series:

Getting to know the World's Greatest Artist's by Mike Venezia: includes Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso & Warhol.

Here is a break down of the process. Please print your checklist below for examples and more details. Each class period is one hour.

•  Day 1: choose artist, research and share group findings, complete and turn in worksheet.
•  Day 2 & 3: create painting on 12X18 paper using painting styles colors, lines, shapes, and subjects that your artist would use.  All materials will be provided for you.
• Day 4 & 5 depending on class size: Presentations- each student will present important information about their artist to the class. Each student will dress up as a character from a painting by your artist or dress up like the artist himself and everyone will present their painting created in the artists' style.
