Famous Missourian Project

First you will choose a famous Missourian from the list provided below. (atatchments section below)

Once you have made a selection you may begin researching at home and gathering information, but do not begin writing anything for final copies.  ALL FINAL COPIES AND FINAL WORK PROJECTS WILL BE COMPLETED IN CLASS.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

• You may choose to use links provided at the bottom of this page and/or informational books and/or videos to help you find information about your famous Missourian.
• BE SURE AND CITE YOUR WORK (Look on citation information page in attachments section below)

The following is a list of elements you must have for this project.  We will discuss the optional formats for the visual representation in class.  Please ask if anything is unclear.

• The Important Paper; a paper written following the style of The Important Book written about your famous Missourian.  The paper tells where and when he/she was born, why they are famous, and other interesting details. • A timeline - A time-line of important dates about your Famous Missourian including birth and death(if they are dead) and major events in their life using ReadwriteThink interactive timeline maker. http://www.readwritethink.org/materials/timeline/
• A journal or diary entry or letter writtten from the perspective of your Famous Missourian
• A picture of your Famous Missourian
• A map with the birthplace location of your Famous Missourian and a sentence that includes the absolute location of that birthplace.  The map must also include a compass rose with all 8 directions.  As well as labeling of other important cities http://geography.about.com/library/blank/blxusmo.htm
• You will also be given an option to earn extra credit through various modes (this will be discussed in class and offered as time permits)
