What's Your Sign?

Process

Steps for individual students

1. Start with first link, click on the link to go to the website. Find which group of dates your birthday is in. Click on the link of the zodiac name. Identify which creature is associated with it, copy down your creature and your zodiac name (Aries, Gemini etc.) on the sheet. Scroll down and look at your characteristics. Record any facts that are interesting or useful about your zodiac sign.

2. Move to the second link. Click on this one to go to the website. Scroll down to the chart beneath the circle, and find your birth year. Your animal is on the left side of the chart in the same row as your birthday. Record the animal. Click on the animal and it will give you personality traits of people with that zodiac sign. The second link is another Chinese zodiac calendar, but it is more specific. Put your date in on the right and press the button. Down in the underlined choices, look at your personality and the five types of your animal. Record any information you find useful or interesting.

3. Click on the third link. Scroll down the page until you find the animal and the dates that contain your birthday. Record the animal and any information about it you find interesting.

4. Look back at the different sites, what differences are there in the zodiac calendars of the different cultures? Record any differences you find on your sheet.

5. Look at your three creatures, which is your favorite? Rank the three in order from most to least favorite. Discuss if the personalities given on the websites were accurate with you as well.

6. After looking over your personality, make a zodiac sign that best describes you, unless you want to use one of the three you already have. In order to make your zodiac sign official, you have to convince the Zodiac President. Explain why you picked this zodiac sign and how it relates to your personality. If you do it right, then the president will approve the zodiac sign for you in the classroom!

Steps for pairs of students

-Steps for pairs of students are similar to individual steps. The difference is that one student will find and record their information, and then the other one will have their turn on the same site. After both students record their information move on to the next site. The students will break apart for steps 5 and 6 and work individually.
