You will be assigned to one of the following groups.

  • The United Kingdom and Great Britain
  •    Ethnic distribution in the UK and the Celtic Fringe
  •     British Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth
  •     The USA: Thelower 48
  •     Canada
  •     Ethnic Distribution in North America: Population of USA and Canada
  •     Australia and New Zealand
  •      South Africa
Specifically in your group, you should find information about:
  •     The countries/nations that make up the studied area.
  •     Their location with regards to continent & borders.
  •     Key places and/or capital cities.
  •     Natural and climatic features.
  •     Flags and national symbols.
  •     Differences and/or similarities between the countries/nations that make up the concept.
  •     Languages other than English that are spoken in the area.
  •  A brief explanation how geography has shaped the culture, beliefs and traditions
You will need to design a map and corresponding glosses for exhibition and presentation. Make sure the map is self-explanatory and can be understood by a number of people.
On the day of the presentation
  • Make sure your poster/map is up and ready for presenting when class starts. We will start presentations at 10:05 and 3:45 (Ms. Crdenas) and at 2:00 & 11:45 (Ms. Glas)
  • Your group will have 8 minutes for presenting and 3 minutes to answer questions from the audience. Once you hear a bell ringing, you will have one minute to walk towards the next exhibition. We will rotate clockwise.
  • On the first day of the presentations only the first four groups will be presenting simultaneously and the audience will take turns to visit the different exhibitions. The audience role is to take notes and provide helpful feedback to presenters.
  • It is estimated that the 4 presentations with rotating audience will finish 50 minutes after the start time. Then, the audience will be asked to leave the room and it will be the turn to present to the groups who were also presenting. In summary, although each group will present a total of 5 times the same information, only your last performance will be graded by your class instructor.
  • The same procedure will take place on the second day of presentations for the second set of groups.
