Introduction

Hear ye! Hear ye! The year is 1764, and the British Crown has passed the Sugar Act in the colonies. As a taxpayer in the colonial city of Philadelphia, you are now forced to pay taxes on all non-British molasses that you purchase. In addition, the Sugar Act is allowing certain cases in the colonies to be tried in non-jury courts. To make matters worse, the colonies aren't being permitted to send representatives to Britain to represent the interests of the colonists. Your duty is to research events, people, and actions that played a role in Philadelphia's involvement in the Revolutionary War.
