A Sustainable Building Design utilizesenvironmentally conscious design techniques. Theidea of sustainability, or ecological design, is to ensure that our actions and decisions today do not affect or reduce theopportunities of future generations

Most buildings are not sustainable. We use them to keep us warm in winterand cool in summer using a lot of energy and producing lots of greenhousegases. Not surprisingly, buildings account for half of our greenhouse gasemissions and our heating systems are the main responsible.

Architects may use manydifferent techniques to reduce the energy needs of buildings and therefore,their greenhouse gases production. Can you think of some techniques?
