Matter & Energy

Introduction

From earliest times human beings have used natural resources and material.
During prehistory, we collected pieces of rock, wood and food. We did not adapt them but used them as we found them. Slowly we learnt to adapt and modify them in different ways.
As time passed we learn more and more about extracting resources and materials from nature. One example is oil, which was inaccessible for a long time because it was underground. We also learnt to transform these materials and obtain different ones.

Modern society depends on energy to function and develop. This energy can come from many sources, but some of them are limited, like coal and petroleum. These sources of energy are running out, so we need to find alternatives, like solar energy, that are unlimited.
Solar energy is also important because it is clean, and it doesn't pollute the environment. We can also get clean energy from the wind and moving water. We have to care for our planet so that future generations can also enjoy its resources.
