Set Sail on the Ohio Erie Canal

Mom and Dad are looking forward to hearing all about what you will learn from this project.  They have given you the task of planning this family vacation.  You will work in groups of 4 with your brothers and sisters to complete all of the tasks.  Each sibling will have a specific task that they are required to complete, which will contribute to the final presentation and allow you to obtain your admission ticket to the family vacation on the Erie Canal. 

You must work together to decide who will be assigned to each task.  Once you have completed the activities you can then plan out the places you and your siblings want to visit during your journey.  Here are the tasks:
    
Task #1.)   You and your siblings will create a biography poster about your father, his family and his  experiences being a captain.  The final product will hang near the entrance of the packet canal boat for everyone to see.  {This information is to be creative and fictional.}

Task #2.)    One sibling will research the history of the Erie Canal and create poster to inform your parents about what you have learned. 

Task #3.)    The remaining siblings will choose a city that has started to develop along the canal and research it.  Your task is to create a travel brochure to encourage travelers to visit your assigned city.

Through these activities you will demonstrate your newly found knowledge of the Erie Canal and how cities along the canal developed because of it�s creation.
