Web Quest Oregon
Teacher Page
This WebQuest basically focused on the seven regions of Oregon. The objective of this Webquest is to help students learn about Oregon as it relates to the five themes of geography. The lesson uses a request by the governer to persuade newcommers to move to a region. I would recommend starting this WebQuest after introducing the five themes of geography. This way, the students will have a better understanding of what information they will be researching on the internet.
The assignment meets Arizona standards S1-C10-P02:Identify the connection between current and historical events and issues studied at this grade level using information from class discussions and various resources (e.g., newspapers, magazines, television, Internet, books, maps).
Some computer knowledge is required, however, if some students are weak in this area they should be grouped with computer savvy peers. Groups, composed of 3-4 students, are selected by the teacher. I would recomend three class periods for this projects; two days for research and creation of poster/commercial and one day for presentations.
