Working with Short Stories

This webquest has been created for advanced students, studying English as a foreign language in the Teacher Training Course, in a private institution.

The basic ideas underpinning this webquest make reference to the analysis of one literary genre students may find useful to be introduced in their classes so as to add an element of authenticity to the lesson, proving their audience with wider opportunities to interact with 'real' language (in this case, belonging to the written mode).

I've particularly chosen this topic because I'm a teacher at a tertiary level institution, in charge of the subject 'Literature Workshop', which is included in the third-year curricula. The main objective of the workshop is to provide students attending the subject with extra tools to work in the classroom. Throughout the year, they analyse different genres, both literary and pragmatic (academic and non-academic), studying some aspects of theory and then they work out the possible pedagogical applications of the genre in the English classroom.

Although this webquest has been created with a clear target in mind, it could be adapted to any advanced group (especially one been trained to become teachers), if the intention is to make them aware of the feasible ways they have to use short stories in their classes.
