  1. Visit the web pages suggested as well as the attached files provided in the ‘Resources’ section below in order to construct a theory about short stories. Bear in mind the following aspects:

    1. Definition
    2. Overall purpose (literary or pragmatic)                                    
    3. Specific purpose
    4. Generic structure
    5. Functions of each of the elements of a short story

  1. Analyse the generic structure of the short story ‘A Private Talk with Holly’ (see attached file

          below).

     3.   Prepare a lesson plan in which you make use of short stories. You should include:

 

     ˜§

 

    1. The characteristics of your class (proficiency level, age, number of students in the class and type of institution you are working in)
    2. The objectives of your class (using procedural verbs)
    3. A description of the activities you would carry out with your class (bearing in mind the PPP sequence: presentation, practice and production)
    4. The way your students would be evaluated.

     Remember to be creative!
