What is in an Argument?

This unit is designed to introduce 10th grade language arts students to argumentation.  By understanding argumentative appeals, rhetorical devices, and audience students will be able to create more effective arguments of their own.  Analyzing famous arguments (MLK is a master of rhetorical devices) helps students to recognize how and why an argument is constructed.  You may want to consider having students analyze their own argument at the end of the unit.
