Teacher Instructions


This webquest is to be used in conjunction with this lesson set over a 12 week period. It is envisioned the teacher will run each lesson as planned in each lesson plan, using the webquest in each lesson for students to conduct activites to reflect the learning outcomes of each lesson.

This 12 week course is the first part in a six part set which covers the design and development of a database and the use of the Microsoft suite of software packages.


 


It is designed to be taught to a year 9 class at level three and/or four. The following comprises the six sections each section being a 12 week course.


 


Lessons          1 � 12              Designing and Developing a Database.


 


Lessons          12 � 24            Accessing a Database with Microsoft Excel.


 


Lessons          24 � 36            Accessing a Database with Microsoft Word.


 


Lessons          36 � 48            Accessing a Database with Microsoft Publisher.


 


Lessons          48 � 60            Accessing a Database with integrated packages of


Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher.


 


Lessons          61 � 73            Creating a database driven website.


 


 


By the end of the first set of 12 lessons, students will have acquired the skills to meet the three Learning Area Outcomes of Technology Process, Information and Enterprise through the design and development of a database using Microsoft Access.


 


 


It is envisioned that in the following five parts of the course, students will have the skills to be able to design and develop an application database with confidence in the first few weeks of each set of 12 week lessons in preparation for the use/access of the Microsoft software application. The main part of the learning will be in the use/access of the database using the microsoft software application in each lesson set.


Assessment for the 12 week lesson set.


 


Assessment consists of a final portfolio which contains material produced during each of the 12 lessons, and in-class assessment each week.
