Seeds of Knowledge

Greetings!

My name is Cheryl James and this is my very first WebQuest.

This WebQuest is primarily for Second Year infants with an age range of 5- 7 yrs.  At this level they are inquisitive, tactile learners.  The WebQuest aims to help pupils understand that plants come from seeds.  The experience of learning through WebQuests, gives all pupils the opportunity to become independent thinkers.  It also increases cooperation and discipline among students as they develop skills their interpersonal relationships.
 

At the end of this WebQuest, pupils will be able to achieve these objectives:

• navigate through credible websites to research and view videos and simulations on seed germination
• discover intriguing information about seeds that will be enhance through visual aids
  
• germinate beans or seeds on their own
• observe daily changes in seed germination and plant growth
• write and draw detailed observations of changes and differences in types of seeds
• create a journal

There are two approaches in conducting this WebQuest. Firstly, pupils with computers at home can do this as a family project which encourages parents and siblings to become part of children's school life. Secondly, teachers can facilitate learning through group tasks and will find this exercise very rewarding if their schools are equipped with computer labs and multimedia resources.
