George Washington's Secret by Charlotte Scarborough

The objective of this webquest is to discover a secret of George Washington's by reading, working cooperatively in pairs or whole class, discussing and writing conclusions.

Grade Level- 1st-2nd Grade and also 3rd-5th grade depending on the level of your students.

Standards:

C13.1.5 Name a traditional U.S. patriotic activity, person, holiday or symbol.

C14.1.1 Name the current President of the United States

C15.1.1 Identify sources of information

3rd Grade Skills:

Research a given social studies topic using technology resources for problem solving.


It is best to begin this webquest after a few days into a unit about George Washington. The webquest will take about 1-2 classes of 40-45 minutes each depending on the ability of your students, and how much you want to cover.

Resources needed- Computers (students can work in pairs so you will not need a computer for every student). You can work as a whole class with an interactive white board.

Materials- Paper and pencils for students to write about the secret they discovered about George Washington.

It is fun for kids to discover a secret- let alone a secret that is not widely known about George Washington. Have fun watching your students become detectives!
