Apple Superheroes Webquest

This webquest was designed for students in Kindergarten.  I am a special education teacher in an inclusive classroom.  Many of these activities are set-up to be done whole group, with a few activities designed to be done in a small group setting, but they can also be adapted to be completed with a helper from an older grade, or even at home with family members.


The Delaware ELA State Standards and GLE's that these activities connect to include:


Standard 1: Use written and oral English appropriate for various purposes and audiences.
1.1 (K�3) � Writers will produce texts that exhibit the following text features, all of which are consistent with the genre and purpose of the writing:  development, organization, style, and word choice.-E
1.2 (K�3) � Writers will produce texts that exhibit the following language conventions at all grade levels:  sentence formation, conventions.-E
1.3 (K�3) � Writers will produce examples that illustrate the following discourse classifications:  by the completion of the grade, writers will be able to write persuasive, informative, and expressive pieces.-E


Standard 2: Construct, examine, and extend the meaning of literary, informative, and technical texts through listening, reading, and viewing.
2.2a (K�4)   Students will be able to develop an increasingly extensive vocabulary and actively seek the meaning of unknown words as an important facet of comprehending texts and messages by using context clues to determine the meanings of words.-E
2.3a (K�4)   Students will be able to self-monitor comprehension while reading by (a) generating a purpose for reading.-E
2.4d (K�4)   Students will be able to demonstrate an overall understanding of printed texts by (d) retelling a story or restating an informative text through speaking and/or writing.-E
2.4e (K�4)   Students will be able to demonstrate an overall understanding of printed texts by (e) organizing the important points of the text via summaries, outlines, and/or graphic organizers.-E
2.4k (K�4), 2.6b (K�4)   Students will be able to demonstrate an overall understanding of printed texts by (k) relating the content of the text to real-life situations and (b) applying information from printed, electronic, and oral texts to complete authentic tasks.-E
2.5b (K�4)   Students will be able to critically analyze and evaluate information and messages presented through print by (b) formulating and expressing opinions.-E
2.5d (K�4)   Students will be able to critically analyze and evaluate information and messages presented through print using critical and divergent thinking, and assimilating prior knowledge to draw conclusions.-E


Standard 4: Use literary knowledge accessed through print and visual media to connect self to society and culture.
4.4a (K�4) � Use literature as a resource for shaping decisions.
4.4b (K�4) � Understand social and political issues.-E
