Day 1


Students will watch the abacus video.


Students will work in groups of 4 to 5. First they will build an abacus out of legos to be completed in 30 minutes.


Students will start to write a two-page report on the history of the abacus. They will have 30 minutes to work on this.


Day 2


Students will finish their written reports on the abacus. They will have 20 minutes to finish the paper.


Students will create a tri- fold presentation on the history of the abacus, including appropriate images. The tri-fold presentation will be based upon the two page written report. They will have 30 minutes to do this. This will be done in the same groups from the paper writing.


Day 3


Students will present the tri-fold as a group. Each group will have 5 minutes to present the tri-fold.


Students will do the Mechanical Computations Word Search. Students will then start the Power Point. They will have 30 minutes to work on this in the computer lab. This is an individual assignment.


Day 4


Students will go to the computer lab and work on the Power Point for an additional 30 minutes. They should be able to complete the task. They may use the resources below.


Students will work on the Google Doc entitled Early Computers and the Internet for 20 minutes.


Students will take the Era of Mechanical Computation assessment for 20 minutes.


Day 5


Students will finish the Early Computers document for 30 minutes.


Students will do the Computers and Terms Word Search for 15 minutes.


Students will do the Computers and Terms assessment for 20 minutes.


Day 6 


Students will work on the Future of Technology Google Doc for 45 minutes.


Day 7


Students will break off in pairs and start working on their Prezi presentation. They will brainstorm and start to outline for 30 minutes.


Day 8


Students will go to the computer lab and start researching their information. Students already have a Prezi account so they will need to login under one user and start looking for information and pictures or graphics. They will start to piece the presentation together. They will work on this for 45 minutes.


Day 9


Students will finalize their presentations.


Days 10


Students will present their Prezis.
