Intro. To Graphic Design
Task
Your task in this webquest is to create a magazine cover with a partner that will impress your fellow students and then pitch them the concept of your magazine cover in order to persuade you fellow peers to choose your magazine cover as the winner.
End Goal:
Your End Goal is to create a magazine cover and be able to pitch your concept to the class
Group Task:
Task I:
First of all you and your partner will get together and brain storm ideas that will possibly be incorporated into your rough draft of your design. (It is best to have many great ideas, this does not mean you are going to incorporate all those great ideas but you will have to decide with your partner which ideas are the best fit for your magazine cover.)
Task II:
After you and your partner are done with brainstorming you will decided what ideas will be best for your magazine cover. Once you have decided what concept you will use for your magazine you will make a rough draft of your design on a 8.5X12 piece of plain white paper. In your rough draft you will incorporate: what the cover will say, what graphic will be incorporated in your magazine pictures or clip art, and where will these be positioned within your magazine cover.
Task III:
Then you and your partner will use Adobe Photoshop to move the concept of your magazine into a final draft. Your rough draft is just a guide it does not always have to end the way you first imagined it. Things will change because you will be editing and revising in the process. When you're on Adobe Photoshop and you visually see it, things might look more appealing to an audience in a different place then you had originally planned.
Task IV:
Once you have completed the final draft of you magazine cover you and your partner will create a pitch that will sell your magazine cover to the class. You and your partner will pick talking points for the magazine cover and try to persuade the class that your concept is the best. In this stage you will create a sales pitch and rehearse it.
Task V:
Finally you will present to the class your're magazine concept and do your best to sell the concept to the class.
Class Tasks:
Task I:
This will be your last task. As part of the class, you will individually evaluate your classmates' projects by giving creative criticism to your peers. You will write on a piece of paper one good thing about their presentation and one good thing about their magazine cover. You will also comment on something they could have improved on with their presentation.
Task II:
Vote for the magazine cover that you believe should represent our business department.
