Mercury, Mars or Venus?

In order to decide if the planets Mars , Mercury or Venus is suitable for people to live on, you must find out more about each planet. Then, you report to Mission Control (your teacher) on whether or not the planet can be used a home for humans.


  • On this space mission, you will work in groups of three to explore on each plane. You will need to choose your job titles for your mission:
Crew Captain--will supervise the group and help make any final decisions.  Helps decide what jobs each person will do for each project.

Navigator--is responsible for navigating the internet--using the mouse, maneuvering around the websites.

Data Recorder--records all data NEATLY on worksheet.

  • You will then be researching each planet one at a time on the internet and recording information on the Plant Information Sheet that is located at the bottom of the page. You should print this document. You will record each planet's distance from the sun, size, temperature, rotation, revolution and space. This information will help you to decide if humans can survive on the planet.

  • You will also need to find out three interesting facts about each planet and present your information in one of three ways: an oral report with drawings of the planets, a power point presentation or a play about find a new home on another planet..

  • Finally, there will be a few exciting websites to play with that deal with the each planet. Enjoy the rest of your mission. Hold on tight,we are now exiting the earth's atmosphere, proceed to the next part of your trip, the "Process" part of your mission!
