A Journey To China

To begin your journey, you will need to read and understand the introduction and the task to this webquest.

Task 1:
1. To begin, do some sightseeing through the map of China. Click on all of the major landpoints and read the given facts. Be sure to pay attention to what you are reading because a short quiz will follow this.

2.  After you have completed the sightseeing, read the history timeline of China. Once again, be sure to read carefully because you will be quizzed on the information you have read.

3. Once you have completed the above tasks, you are now ready for your quiz. You must pass this quiz before boarding your plane to China! Make sure to print your results when you have finished to show immigration (your teacher) before entering China.

Task 2:
Now that you are going to school in China, you are going to need to learn how to write your name in Chinese!
1. Explore Chinese handwritting by following the link below and finding your name.
2. Select the first letter of your name in the alphabet under the correct gender catagory.
3. Once you do this find the closest match and spelling to your name.
4. Pratice writing your Chinese name on a piece of paper and when you feel confident enough, write it on your final document that you will be turning into immigration (your teacher) upon returning home. You will print this document out under resource number 5.

Task 3:
Next, you are going to need to learn how to speak common Chinese phrases to last your stay. Focus on words such as the colors, counting numbers, helpful words, and greetings.
1. Go to the link below and first listen to the correct pronunciation of the Chinese words in each category.
2. Once you have listened to each word once, begin practicing how to say each word in Chinese.
3. Then with a partner sitting next to you, practice saying words to each other in Chinese. You may print out the flashcards on the website if you wish to take home with you.
4. Finally, you will then write some of the words you have learned on your immigration document in both English and Chinese under the "Words Learned" category.

Task 4:
You are finally going to explore some of the games played by your peers in China. In the story, Shierly became involved in America's favorite past time, baseball.
1. You will choose a game from the website below that you are most interested in.
2. Then you will print out the rules and the game description and place it in the folder with your immigration document as proof of your involvement in sports while you are on your stay. 
3. Choose wisely because you will later be sharing this game with your class back in America when you return home! These games will then be placed in a binder for activities to do on a rainy day!
