Cinderella, Cinderella, Cinderella
Process
Getting Started
1. As a group of 4 or 5, read and analyze 6 or more Cinderella stories. Each group will read the traditional version of the story. (Attached under Resources 1) You may choose others from this link (Copy and Paste link: http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/type0510a.html ) and from the attached resources.
2. After the completion of each story, meet as a group to discuss the test.
3. On butcher paper, make a matrix (chart) like the one below then complete the matrix for the version being discussed. (Attached under Resources 2)
4. Be ready to present your matrix to the class.
- One way to revise a Cinderella story is to replace words with synonyms to make the story more interesting or visual. Download and print this (PDF file) version of Cinderella. (ATTACHED UNDER RESOURCES AS ORIGINAL CINDERELLA) Replace each underline word with a synonym. If you need help, use a Thesaurus. Save your story.
- Write your own diamante about a character or characters from one of the stories you read. Either contrast two characters who are complete opposites or one character who dramatically changed during the story. Be sure to keep your writing in your Cinderella folder.
Now lets be a Cinderella Author!
- Plan your story. Look at attached resources for an example planning sheet. (4)
- Write your draft.
- Revise and edit your story with a partner.
- Write your final copy. Include illustrations.
