Process

There are many steps for creating a menu.  Carefully complete each task, before continuing on to the next task.  Good luck!

  1. Explore My Food Pyramid.  Complete this lesson on My food Pyramid.  You will need to print out the worksheet given in the lesson.  Write the score from your My Pyramid Blast Off game on the top right corner of your worksheet (in lesson).
  2. To find out how many servings of each food group you should eat per day visit My Pyramid Plan, and put in your height and weight. Use this as a guide for your daily menu.
  3. By studying My Food Pyramid, you know what a healthy daily menu should include. Now it is time to start creating your menu.  In the resource section of this Web quest you will find the Daily Menu Planning Guide.  Open this document in Word, and use it as a guide to create your menu.
  4. Next, have fun, search the web to find recipes for your daily menu plan.  You may want to try Allrecipes.com, kidshealth.org, familyfun.go, or choose recipes from your own family favorites.
  5. Complete your menu, using the My Daily Menu plan, found in the resource section of this WebQuest.
  6. Present your menu to the class.  You will give an oral presentation to the class on your menu plan.  You can be as creative as you want on this task.  You can make a poster that shows your menu items, you can make a menu item for your classroom to try, etc.  Presentation should take no longer than 5 minutes.
Be sure to look at the evaluation section for detailed information on how you will be graded on each task.
