Come Discover the 13 Colonies

Welcome Travel Agents!  The following is your assignment for making fun, interesting, and visually appealing travel brochures for one of the 13 Colonies.  Remember, the colonies need new settlers and are relying on your creativity.  Please work hard and have fun!

1. Each group will be assigned one of the 13 Colonies.  The group will need to research their colony and find the following facts.  Each student will looked up 3 of the facts for their colony.  Both students need to record each of the 6 answers, on a piece of paper that will be graded.
  • Date the colony was founded
  • Who founded the colony
  • Who/What the colony was name for
  • The economy of the colony (how did the colony make money
  • Famous colonists that lived in the colony (need at least two)
  • Fun or interesting fact about the colony

2. After you have found your 6 facts for your colony, your need to find (1) picture to go with each fact.  Remember that the pictures can not be copyrighted.  Use the word "free" in your internet search or use the links below.

3. Using the data your group has collected on your colony, create a travel brochure.  All six of the facts need to be included in your brochure.  Each fact needs to have a picture that relates to the fact.  The picture does not have to be located with the fact but needs to be located somewhere on the brochure.  Be creative, use different colors, fonts, borders, etc.

4. Each group is responsible for presenting their finished travel brochure to the class.  The 6 facts need to be divided up, so each students presents 3 facts to the class.
