Safety Smart

First you will split into groups of three. You will need to print Resource #8 and each one of you will pick two safety signs to research independently. Cut out both pictures of the safety signs you chose and will be researching. (You will need the picture at a later time so take care of it)

Now you will need to print the Safety Helper worksheet Resource #9 to help you collect all of the information you will need from your research.

Next you will need to watch the the research video matching the safety signs you chose.

Remember that you must find out what the name of your sign is, what it means, and why it

is important to you.

Complete the Safety Helper worksheet (Resource #9) during and after the research videos. Watch the videos more than once if you need to. This is only your rough copy. Look at your Safety Helper worksheet to make sure you have complete sentences with correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. If you find mistakes on your Safety Helper worksheet, correct them.

Now you need to copy your corrected information from the Safety Helper worksheet onto a Book Page (Resource #10). Make sure you complete one page for each of your safety signs. Put each group members pages together to make the final book. Make a book cover as a team in order to complete the book. If you would like to print off another Resource #8 page in order to decorate the cover you may. Share your pages with each other so you will be more prepared next Halloween when you trick-or-treat.

Just to make sure you do not forget the safety signs for next Halloween, each team member will then need to print off Resource #8. Cut and color each sign. Write the name of the sign on the back of the picture. Form a small booklet of all of the signs and use this for practice and memory.
