The aim ofthe project is to develop the business English communication skills on the basis of the authentic modern texts on Globalization as well as to build up  e-competence through constructing the collaborative content-based research web site.

The whole project comprises 2 blocks:

The first is a  general one called "Globalisation:key trends" covering the fundamental theoretical aspects of the phenomenon
The second one is more practical, research- oriented and specific called "Going glocal" aiming to research, analyse and compare certain aspects of globalisation at the local and individual level in Russia/Western Siberia and Kazakhstan.

The overall time planned for the project is 3 months with the month and a half  for each of the blocks, though it might take longer for the second block considering the real human contacts and working timetables of the outside people involved, as well as the intensity of the assignments in this part.

The 1 block process:

1. Form into groups of three/four or work individually depending the number of students in the class.

2. Each group/ student will choose one key issue to focus on.

3. Each group member will research the general information provided in the hyperlinks in the TASK  with the further finding and collecting web-resources on the chosen aspect of globalization.

4. Each student will write an analytical essay on the specific  issue.

5. Afterwards, gather togetherwith all group members for a writer's workshop. Critique each others' essays, andcollaborate on your findings.

6.
Cooperatively design aPowerPoint presentation. Each member is in charge ofdeveloping and presenting his/her own section of the Power Point for about ten minutes time.

7. Each group member mustpresent to his/her audience what he/she has learned about key aspects of globalization.

8. Revise your essays andsubmit them to your instructor.

The 2d  block process:

1. Go through  the preparational Task organised by your instructor all together in a class

2. Split into 2 equal teams:  Russian and Kazakhstan ( depending your place of birth) and decide on one specific ( personally preferred)  issue of globalisation for each student to research further in the conditions of the Russian and Kazakhstan locality. Finally every student will be responsible for a separate page reflecting the results of his/her work published at the web project site. The logo or(and) motto for the front page of the site are very much welcomed.

3. The web project requirements:

Each student has to go through the whole range of research activities such as:

- presenting your personal profile and photo

- contributing a piece of general info about your native country and city for the common Rubric on the country on the front page of the web project site

-  collecting the Internet resources on the chosen issue including articles, video, photos, graphs and the like

- participating in discussions with other teams members through e-mails, Skype,  blogs etc.  as well as reflecting  on the success/failures  made at any stage of the project for final evaluation of the project
