Descriptive Writing-Describing People

Introduction

20100618025529beWaz.jpg

Descriptive writing generally requires that details be given to establish vivid images of a subject. In order to achieve this, ample use of adjectives must be skillfully used so as to add life and colour to your writing.

In describing people, attention must be given to their physical features and inner qualities so as to bring the character to life. Facial expression, posture, physique, movement, dress, speech, gait, attitude and social attributes are some of the elements to be described.

Appropriate use must be made of sensory details. Images of sight, smell, taste, touch and sound must be included.
