Introduction

20100126121849Mabej.jpg

Before the Civil War, the South was filled with racism, slavery, religion, aristocracy, and hypocrisy, and no book better displays this then the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. This book follows the adventures of a young boy named Huckleberry Finn, an innocent ruffian, down the Mississippi River in the pre-Civil War era. Through Huck's experiences, and his relationship with his fellow adventurer, a runaway slave, Jim, Mark Twain reveals and satrizes the racism and the hypocrisy of the South at that time.
