Paul Bunyan and America's Landmarks

The United States has many legends dating from the 1800s, when the country was expanding westward and people were clearing the land for farming.

This folklore includes a number of tall tales - funny stories about larger-than-life characters who were unusually strong or clever and capable of amazing things. 

Some of the best-known tales are about a giant lumberjack named Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe.

According to legend, on their travels across our country, Paul Bunyan and Babe were responsible for the creation of many famous landmarks. 

But is this really how these fascinating places came to be?  What are they really like?
