Have you ever talked about that with others? 

I'm sure when you're talking, you describe the things, places, or people, right?

Okay, now, we will learn more how to describe those above. In writing, it is called as descriptive text.

What is a descriptive text ?

Descriptive text is used to describe a particular person, place, or thing.

Generic Stucture:

a. Identification: identifies the phenomenonto be described

b. Description: describes parts, qualities,characteristics

 Significant lexicogrammatical features:

Focus on specific participants, use simplepresent tense

Social function of Descriptive text :

To describe a particular person, place orthing and here is an example of descriptive text

Natural Bridge National Park

 Natural Bridge National Park isluscious tropical rainforest. It is located 110 kilometers south of Brisbane and is reached by following the Pacific Highway to Nerang and then bytravelling through the Numimbah Valley. This scenic roadway lies in the shadowof the Lamington National Park.

 The phenomenon of the rock formed intoa natural ‘arch’ and the cave through which a waterfall cascades is a shortone-kilometer walk below a dense rainforest canopy from the main picnic area.Swimming is permitted in the rock pools. Night-time visitors to the cave willdiscover the unique feature of the glow worms.

 Picnic areas offer toilets, barbeque,shelter sheds, water and fireplaces; however, overnight camping is notpermitted.
