A Long Way From Chicago

Although Grandma Dowdel might greet you with a, "Whatever you're selling, I don't want any of it!" attitude, I am here to welcome you to a wonderful webquest of the book A Long Way From Chicago by Richard Peck.  Set during the Great Depression in a small town in southern Illinois, this book gives the reader insight into the struggles people faced during those hard times.  Although money was scarce, friendships and creativity were not.  Through Grandma Dowdel we will get to see how one woman was able to make a difference in so many people's lives, all the while proclaiming she wanted to be left alone by everyone and minded her own business.
