A Journey to Africa
Introduction
Get your passport and pack your suitcase! We are heading to Kenya Africa to discover its land, people, climate, wildlife, and culture! Along your travels you will collect videos, pictures, listen to stories, and gather artifacts, and meet many different people! When you return, you will create your own travel brochures to persuade people to travel to Africa! At the end, we will all come together for an African Festival to present our findings!
Some big ideas and questions to keep in mind:
- How does the story "Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock" present important values and morals within the African culture as well as other cultures?
- How does geographic location affect the people, lifestyle, and the types of stories within a culture?
- How is the geography, climate, wildlife, and culture different from your own?
- How can we connect what we have learned with our own lives?
- How is storytelling significant to many different cultures?
