ATTENTION ALL EDUCATORS!

As an educator, have you ever experienced any of the following scenarios?

- You are teaching students a lesson and there is a student who cannot seem to sit still and is talking excessively to peers.

- While the class is finishing an assignment, there is a student who has not yet completed any of the work and is instead preoccupied looking out the window of the classroom.

The scenarios described above depict classrooms in which a child with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is present. ADHD is one of the most common neurological disorders diagnosed in children, with approximately 3-7% of children currently diagnosed with this disorder. It is more common for males to be diagnosed with ADHD than females. Diagnoses of ADHD have increased substantially over the past decade, which makes it imperative for educators to be knowledgeable on this disorder.
