EED 465 Charting the Course: Social Studies Webquest (Benchmark Assessment
American History
Martin Luther King Jr.
First, the teacher will ask the students questions to assess any prior knowledge of Martin Luther King Jr. Then the teacher will introduce key words such as civil rights, segregation, and discrimination.
The students will watch a short video on brainpop about Martin Luther King Jr.
Next, the teacher will read a book called Martin Luther King Jr. Day, The Story of Martin Luther King Jr. and a picture book of Martin Luther King Jr. Once the books are finished we will have a class discussion about what they heard in the book.
Activity: The students will share events from the books that were read and then draw there favorite part of the book.
